Welcome to Sylvia Park School's very own 'Studio'. My name is Dagmar Dyck and it's my privilege to be the 'artist in residence' until the end of term 2.

Looking at all our work |
Here is a photo of our Junior class discussing 'what is an artist?'. They have also been busy designing their visual diary covers. Many of our Junior students view an artist as someone that 'paints, colours in, and is good at writing and drawing pictures'. Through designing their own workbook covers the Juniors thoroughly engaged in the process of creating their own personal 'marks'.
The Year 3-8's all received their own artist quality visual diaries. In here they were encouraged to record all their ideas, thoughts and inspirations. In our discussion the students were told that these are not 'secret diaries' but rather tools for their craft. They will be utilised to store all their important information and ideas. The students are allowed to take them home each night to work on - as long as they do their other homework first! :-)
